Identifying Resources Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Identifying Resources - Term Paper Example nesses and threats and build upon opportunities and strengths in my course project and how I would leverage these resources to carry out the change I am proposing through the strategic plan. Addressing strengths and weaknesses and building upon opportunities and threats is a time consuming process that requires highly skilled personnel or team to collect and analyze data (Sare and Ogilvie, 2010). Therefore, highly skilled personnel is one of the critical resources needed. The second resource alluded to by Sare and Ogilvie (2010) is finances. For a change to be achieved, there must be enough funds to finance day to day, weekly, and monthly activities and processes that are directed towards addressing weaknesses and threats and build on strengths and opportunities. In relation to optimal number of nurses as an unmet need, lack of relevant skills among the few available nurses as a threat necessitates availability of funds to facilitate the needed training programs. The third resource in this context is partnerships (Sare and Ogilvie, 2010). To implement action plans to address the weaknesses and threats and build on the strengths and opportunities, a multidisciplinary app roach is needed. Partnering with both internal and external stakeholders is also important in order to attract the needed support. Fourthly, technology (Sare and Ogilvie, 2010) is also a critical resource in this context. Efficiency of services in a healthcare institution is highly attributable to technology. Adoption of technology as an opportunity for improvement for instance could help improve efficiency of services through enabling easy access of patients information. One of the ways I would leverage these resources to achieve the needed change is budgeting. In elucidating a budget, Inc (n.d, para.3) posits that "Modern budgets not only limit expenditures; they also predict income, profits, and returns on investment a year ahead". In addition, Inc (n.d) posits that a budget helps business

Minimum Wage Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Minimum Wage - Research Paper Example People from different jurisdictions have different opinions and reasons on whether to raise the minimum wage or not. In my opinion, the minimum wage should be raised because of a number of factors that will be discussed in this paper. Statistics reveal glaring differences and variations in minimum wage among various EU member states. For example, in Bulgaria, the minimum wage as of 1st July 2014 stood at 174 Euros. This was extremely low compared to Luxembourg which had a minimum wage of 1,921 during the same period. This glaring variation in minimum wage should be bridged so that workers from both places can have almost equal chances of generating reasonable income. One region should not have such a high minimum wage yet another region has an extremely low minimum wage when both countries are EU member states. Inflation and recession have been common occurrences in the economic front over the years. For example, the value of money in the 1970s cannot be compared to the value of money now. More literally, the value of 10 Euros in 1973 is not the same as the value of 10 Euros in 2014. For this reason, even the minimum wage cannot stay at the same flat rate that it has stayed over the past years. What 10 Euros could do for a worker in 1970 is not the same as what it can do to the same worker in 2014, for example. The minimum wage has to be increased to accommodate these changes in the value of money as a result of inflation and recession (Card, 1992). Today, the productivity of a typical worker is much higher than what it used to be many years back. This is mostly because of advancements in technology which have increased productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency. For this reason, the workers at the bottom deserve to benefit from these gains of increased productivity. Many people around the world are relying in minimum wage jobs to earn a living and make ends meet. For example, between 2010 and

Writing a proposal for case study in conflict management design system

Writing a proposal for in conflict management design system - Case Study Example The system should be able to resolve conflicts using the interest based approach, the rights based approach and the power based approaches. For conflict management systems to be successful, organizations should be commited to educate its employees on positive values and beliefs that are associated with conflict. The organization should commit itself to educate its employees on behaviour that is compatible with successful conflict management systems. The employee attitudes towards conflicts should be neutral. The organization should commit resources’ in educating employees on the need to avoid perceiving a conflict as a situation whose outcome is about gains and loses. This is because a conflict management system will work if the mindset of employees is not tilted in the direction of a blaming mindset. Allowing for elimination of a blaming mind set ensures that the conflict management system assists in handling conflicts in a constructive manner. This will significantly reduce unproductive employee time, work place stress and litigation (Bercovitch & Jackson, 2009). The organization should provide open communication systems vital for the working of conflict resolution systems. Once the organization commits itself to having an open communication system, it will have provided a ground for the working of the conflict resolution system, by eliminating the mistrust between employees and managers. For the conflict management system to work the organization should ensure that it commits itself to avail primary decision making centers in the organization’s structure. Moreover, the organization needs to put up decision making centers that are cooperative. This will promote consensus and facilitation when the systems are used for conflict resolution. The project intends to achieve myriad objectives through the conflict resolution systems. The system will ensure that

Civil Rights Movement Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Civil Rights Movement - Essay Example As the essay stresses long before Brown, however, and long before Marshall would sit on the Supreme Court, in 1930; Marshall applied to the University of Maryland Law School. Because Marshall was black, his application to the law school was rejected. Marshall was accepted into Howard University’s law school, which was and continues to be one of the finest institutions of higher education serving a student body of mostly African Americans. It’s easy to understand the passion with which Marshall must have pursued his victory in Brown v. Board of Topeka. This paper declares that Brown v. Board opened the door to African Americans seeking admissions into what had traditionally been white schools and colleges. It was a long road, but sweeping changes began taking place throughout the south. Arkansas, in 1957 saw its National Guard force federalized by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in order to prevent the state’s, Governor Orval Faubus, from utilizing the Guard to prevent black students from entering white schools. In 1962, the University of Mississippi was mandated by a federal court to admit its first black student, James Meredith. Meredith, having accumulated credit from another university prior to his admission, graduated from the University of Mississippi the following year. Having delivered the Court’s decision in 1954, Chief Justice Warren read, â€Å"We conclude that, in the field of education, ‘separate but equal’ has no place’.

PR Campaign Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

PR Campaign - Essay Example Customers reverse the flow of consumer promotions by either soliciting promotions directly from marketers through intermediaries, PR has been traditionally pushed to consumers by marketers. But customers can now click on press releases that interest them, and request promotional information from manufacturers. PR is pulled by customers and is customerinitiated.. Customers can design and configure their own products, using their imagination and tools provided by marketers. The site's notepad lets would-be buyers scribble and save ideas about products as they browse. In traditional industrial firms, the new offerings often originated in the engineering department, and marketing would be given the task of selling the offerings after the design had been completed (Chitty et al 2005). PR messages will help McBride Financial to inform professionals who are purchasing either primary or secondary residenc and people who are guaranteed capable of paying the mortgage amortization about products and unique propositions available from McBride. More progressive firms have reversed this process, and the marketing department transmits the "voice of the customer" to the organization before the development begins. However, this marketing-led process still assumes a sequential process for designing offers and messages. Consumers make purchase decisions based on what they know about a brand, rather than on what they remember from press releases. Whereas explicit ad recall reflects what people can remember about information stated in an ad, advertisers are interested in what people know about their brand. Implicit measures of memory are useful in this regard. Implicit measures solicit what people know without making reference to the origins of their knowledge. For example, brand recall is an implicit measure because people are asked to tell what they know about a brand. The impact of exposure on brand recall is a more appropriate measure of the learning prompted by PR than is ad recall because brand recall is a reflection of what people know rather than what they can remember. While brand recall and top-of-mind awareness are useful indicators of what people know about a brand, advertisers are generally most interested in consumers' dispositions toward a brand as a result of advertising exposures. To some extent, these measures of learning are useful in making inferences about dispositions. For example, enhancing top-of-mind recall frequently is found to increase preference for a brand. However, because this measure is of limited diagnostic value in efforts to enhance brand purchase, measures specifically designed to reflect people's dispositions are considered (Chitty et al 2005). For McBride Financial, ethical considerations involve communication in the proper way with potential target audiences and fair information. Because many people perceive right and wrong from different angles, the objective of the company in the area of ethical and moral standards must be to establish what it will and will not tolerate. Once the level of integrity has been established, then the areas of vulnerability must be examined and limits established in each of these areas. Since not detecting or overlooking violations weakens the fear of punishment, a system of inspection must be

Business Ethics and Law Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Business Ethics and Law - Assignment Example will imply that dangerous dumping need to be avoided by the cruising ships which have been the number one contributor to wasting the grey water in the sea and therefore, causing pollution. There are various recommendations that I can make for control of the current situation to ensure that no companies benefit from the seas at the expense of other people. One recommendation is that all the individuals and companies that use the sea in the cruising business should be charged according to the amount of waste they throw into the seas (Anonymous, n.d). This will ensure that a regulating body makes the treatment of the sea water so that there sea life can continue in a balanced ecosystem. All ship owners should be supervised to ensure that they are not risking the lives at the sea ensure by throwing either there human or the non human wastes into the sea at any point in time. This would help the beneficiaries of the sea like the swimmers, fishermen and others to get the benefit as users of the sea and this will help ensure that the fish and aquatic plants are prevented from poisoning. Clean sea water will ensure that the distribution and the population of the aquatic life is as per the natural condition. After the implementation of the cleaning of the waters, I would recommend that all sea cruisers be fitted with enough tanks to keep the non human wastes in them and release them at a treatment point. This will ensure that grey water will not have negative impact to the aquatic life and therefore, it will ensure the sea cruising companies are responsible on the way they react to the environment. The strategy would address the problem at its base and will ensure that there is fairness in using the sea by containing wastes of the environment. This will mean that people who depend on the sea will be able to use the sea for a longer time. This recommendation will extend the economic benefit to all he fishermen, because they will continue with their activities for a longer
